To say that one is better than the other would be like saying apples are better than oranges. It is a subjective opinion for sure. Objectively however, it would depend on the desired end result.

'Traditional' powder coating is a dry finishing technique that requires an electrostatic charge to bond the powder to a metal substrate. It is one of the most common finishing methods, representing more than 15% of the industrial finishing market. This powder coating offers a high quality, durable finish with good production efficiencies. These epoxy based coatings are available in almost an unlimited range of colours, with a relatively low cost price point.

Nylon powder is a patented organic product, made from Castor beans, providing a much lower environmental impact, while also offering superior thermal and wear protection. It is a must in high performance applications, such as automotive, military, furniture and medical where parts 'take a beating.'  Like epoxy based coatings, nylon is very attractive, and goes on thin, at .004 to .030 thousandths of an inch.

Plastico Industries is a nylon powder coater, offering both fluidized bed (dip) options and the ability to spray parts. By comparison, the cost per part is typically higher with nylon, however, with less re-work and quality concerns, long term, nylon provides an outstanding cost performance ratio.
